A reproducible KH test starts from a recorded source identity, not an unqualified command that happens to fetch today’s master. Keep this test installation apart from an existing regular Icecast or another KH build.
Obtain the intended source
The following commands create a separate checkout and fix the handbook’s snapshot. Run them in a chosen working directory that does not already contain an icecast-kh folder:
git clone https://github.com/karlheyes/icecast-kh.git
cd icecast-kh
git checkout --detach ea3554b5167f6780a8be77f1715f90ed02005665
git rev-parse HEADDetached HEAD is deliberate for this source test. It is not an instruction to change the branch of a production checkout. If you instead choose the published kh22 archive, record that release rather than claiming it is identical to this later commit.
Check prerequisites, then build
Read configure.ac and the README from the selected source. The documented library families include libxml2, libxslt, curl and Ogg/Vorbis; TLS and other format capabilities depend on the selected build. Obtain the appropriate development headers through your operating system’s package system. Do not copy obsolete minimum versions as present-day security recommendations.
This pinned tree includes configure. A private-prefix test build can use:
./configure --prefix="$HOME/icecast-kh-local"
make
make installThe prefix is your own local test directory. Keep the configure summary and failures; do not keep running make after configuration failed. A source checkout that requires bootstrapping needs its own supplied autotools procedure, not guessed flags or a random external script.
Identify the executable and its assets
Use the executable in the chosen prefix explicitly when a system icecast also exists. Keep its matching web and admin files and generated example configuration. The install step does not prove a service started or a stream works. Next, use the local baseline, inspect startup logs and test source plus listener traffic. Record unavailable optional features as build facts rather than configuration errors.
